David Villa is the all-time top goalscorer in the history of the Spain national football team with 59 goals in 97 games from 2005 to 2014. On 25 March 2011, he scored twice in a 2–1 European qualifying victory over the Czech Republic, beating the Spanish record of 44 goals in 102 games set by Raúl.

  • Note: Villa's apparent 38th goal (against Poland) was actually an own goal by an opponent. Although FIFA credited the goal to Villa at the time, their own website now says he has scored 59 times for Spain, not 60.
