The following is a list of indoor arenas ordered by capacity, that is the maximum number of spectators the arena can accommodate for a sports event. Currently all arenas with a capacity of 15,000 or more are included. The 105,000 seat AT&T (Cowboy) Stadium (Dallas, Texas), the Carrier Dome (Syracuse, New York, USA) and U Arena (under construction in Nanterre, France), are not included as they are dome and retractable roof stadiums built for field sports that also host indoor events. In addition, only the capacity for indoor sports, such as basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, etc. are included.

The list is divided into three subsections; current arenas, arenas under construction; and closed or arenas no longer used for sporting events.
