The Wire has been nominated for a variety of different awards including two Primetime Emmy Awards, fifteen NAACP Image Awards, two Edgar Awards (one win), three Writers Guild of America Awards (one win), one Directors Guild of America Award, and has also won a Peabody Award. The series has been nominated for forty three industry awards and has won eight. It has also topped several critics polls.
