Paris Saint-Germain Football Club is a French professional association football club based in Paris, whose first team play in the highest tier of French football, the Ligue 1. The capital side was formed in 1970 by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain.

Since the club's inception, PSG has had 26 managers. Pierre Phelipon (1970–1972) was the first ever manager of Paris Saint-Germain. He immediately guided Paris SG to the French top-flight after becoming Ligue 2 champions. On the other hand, former Serbian player Velibor Vasović (1976–1977) was PSG's first foreign manager.

The longest-serving manager is Georges Peyroche (1979–1983). He guided PSG to two consecutive French Cup wins. A few years later, Paris SG were crowned champions of France with Gérard Houllier (1985–1988) as manager. He delivered the national title to the capital for the first time in 50 years. Under the direction of Portuguese manager Artur Jorge (1991–1994), the capital club clinched its second league crown.

Jorge was replaced by Luis Fernández (1994–1996, then 2000–2003). Fernández holds the record for most games managed, with 244. During his first spell, PSG lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and he became the only French manager to win a major European trophy with a French club. Meanwhile, Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti (2011–2013) led Paris SG to its third Ligue 1 title, 19 years after the last one.

The most successful Paris Saint-Germain manager in terms of trophies won is Laurent Blanc (2013–2016) with 11 titles. In his three seasons in charge, PSG won three Ligue 1 titles, two French Cups, three French League Cups and three French Super Cups spread over one domestic treble and two national quadruples. Blanc was replaced by current PSG manager Unai Emery at the end of the 2015–16 season.
