Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is an animated television series produced by Lego and airing on Cartoon Network. The series revolves around the world of Ninjago, a place divided between Ninjago proper and the Dark Island, along with an underworld and several sacred places. The main characters are in tune with the elements of Fire, Earth, Ice, Lightning, Water and Energy.
As of May 5, 2016, 64 episodes have aired in six seasons. The series also has produced four pilot half-episodes that are half the length of regular episodes, and six mini-episodes that are two minutes each. The six mini-episodes take place (chronologically) between the last pilot episode and the first episode of season one.
Season 4 premiered on February 23, 2015 in North America and Great Britain on Cartoon Network. On June 8, Lego released a trailer for the 5th season called Ninjago: Possession. It premiered on June 29, 2015 on Cartoon Network Poland.
On July 12, 2015, the show's writers said at San Diego Comic-Con that in season six, the ninjas would be on the run and hiding from a police chief who has accused them of committing crimes.
The sixth season, Skybound, focused on the ninja against a djinn named Nadahkan and his crew of sky pirates with the central character as Jay. It is also based on genie mythology.
A 44 minute TV special titled "Day of the Departed" aired on October 19, 2016.
