This is a list of characters from the Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu animated series and related media.

Main Characters

  • Kai (voiced by Vincent Tong) – Originally the impatient newbie of the Ninja team, Kai eventually comes to accept his place in the team. In Season 6, Kai becomes focused on being a celebrity, more so than doing his job. He is sometimes the Ninja's field leader, in Lloyd's absence. As of episode 32, Kai can shoot fireballs out of his hands. Kai is Nya's brother, and is in love with Skylor (although his relationship with Skylor is not mentioned after Season 4). (Main, 1-)
  • Jay Walker/Gordon (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite) – A quick-witted Ninja, who has developed a romantic relationship with Nya. As of episode 32, he can shoot lightning out of his hands, either to attack enemies or to propel himself through the air.
  • Zane (voiced by Brent Miller) – Zane is usually calm, level-headed and emotionless, though he temporarily becomes more emotional in Seasons 3 and 4. Zane is a robot (as discovered in episode 7), giving him special abilities, including being able to flip gadgets out of his arms, and see out of the eyes of the Falcon. These are enhanced after P.I.X.A.L.’s AI is placed inside of him. As of episode 32, Zane can shoot ice out of his hands, though this is rarely used. Zane was created by Dr. Julien, and develops romantic feelings for P.I.X.A.L. in Season 3.
  • Cole (voiced by Kirby Morrow) – While originally introduced as the Ninja's goal-oriented and "fearless" field leader in the pilot episodes, Cole becomes much more laid-back and flippant by Season 1, ceasing to lead the team and leaving the Ninja without a formal field leader (until Season 3). Cole possesses super strength and, as of episode 32, he can create rocks and cause earthquakes. In addition, Cole became a ghost in episode 48, giving him the power to become intangible at will and possess objects, but also decreasing his morale. Cole became human again in Day of the Departed. (Main, 1-)
  • Master Wu (voiced by Paul Dobson) – The calm, patient mentor of the Ninja. He is the First Spinjitzu Master's son, Garmadon's brother, and Lloyd's uncle. (Main, 1-)
  • Nya (voiced by Kelly Metzger) – A capable mechanic and fighter who usually helps the Ninja, but is often underestimated by them. Although shown to be independent and fearless in the pilot episodes, as the story progress Nya becomes less confident, and by Season 6 professes to feel much angst about being female. Nya also has an alter ego as Samurai X, a samurai with a giant mech and high-tech gadgets. In Season 5, Nya becomes a Ninja, allowing her to shoot streams of water out of her hands. Nya is Kai's sister and Jay's girlfriend. (Main, 1-)
  • Lloyd Garmadon (voiced by Jillian Michaels) – First introduced as a wannabe super villain, Lloyd eventually joined the Ninja, even becoming their leader. Lloyd was initially a child, but was brought to the age of the other Ninja by magical tea (in episode 18). Lloyd is a team player and a valued leader. He can shoot golden spheres of energy out of his hands (as of episode 15). Lloyd is Garmadon and Misako's son. (Main, 2-; Recurring, 1)
  • Lord/Master Garmadon (voiced by Mark Oliver) — Garmadon has served as an antagonist to the Ninja through Season 2 (as Lord Garmadon) and as a protagonist starting in Season 3 (as Sensei Garmadon). As Lord Garmadon, his personality changes significantly throughout the series, but his two consistent character traits are his thirst for power and his love for Lloyd. As Master Garmadon, he is the co-leader of the ninja, with Wu. He is the First Spinjitzu Master's son, Wu's brother, Lloyd's father, and Misako's husband. (Main, 3-4; Recurring, 1-2; Guest, 5)
  • Misako (voiced by Kathleen Barr) – A former librarian and archeologist, who has a store of knowledge concerning Ninjago mythology. Misako is Garmadon's wife and Lloyd's mother. (Main, 6; Recurring, 2-5)
  • Allies

  • "Grand Sensei" Dareth (voiced by Alan Marriott) – A dramatic and self-centered man, who claims to be a master ninja, despite his complete lack of any ninja skills. Dareth often falls in with the Ninja by mistake, frequently impairing the Ninja more than he helps them. He prefers to be addressed by the moniker "the Brown Ninja", and takes on the role of the Ninja's promoter in Season 6.
  • P.I.X.A.L. (voiced by Jennifer Hayward) – Cyrus Borg's robotic assistant who develops a crush on Zane, and assists the Ninja throughout Season 3. P.I.X.A.L.'s AI ultimately winds up inside Zane, where she endows Zane with even more special abilities than he would have otherwise, e.g. detecting incoming threats while Zane is distracted.
  • Dr. Cyrus Borg (voiced by Lee Tockar) – A genius inventor who reconstructs Ninjago City after it is largely destroyed in the Season 2 finale, transforming it into the futuristic New Ninjago City where everything is controlled by technology. Borg ultimately regrets this decision when the Overlord hacks into the system, compelling Borg to help the Ninja combat his own inventions.
  • Ronin (voiced by Brian Dobson) - A mercenary and pawnshop owner, whose main goal is to pay off a debt to Soul Archer. He is greedy and mostly conscienceless, although he eventually helps the Ninja after Morro and Morro's ghosts betray him (purportedly for failing to pay Soul Archer on time). Ronin mainly serves as an antihero in the series, although he appears as an antagonist to the Ninja in Lego Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin.
  • Falcon - A seemingly ordinary falcon who protects and helps the Ninja, particularly Zane. It is discovered to be a robot in episode 7 (shortly before Zane discovers that he himself is a robot). Subsequently, it makes use of this fact, most notably allowing Zane to see out of its eyes. It was created by Dr. Julien.
  • Echo Zane (voiced by Brent Miller) - A robot who looks like Zane. He helps the Ninja using his martial arts skills and ability to run on any surface, defying gravity. However, he is prone to falling apart at inopportune moments.
  • Tai-D - A housekeeping robot created by Dr. Julien.
  • Nelson (voice by David Reynolds) - A boy with a homemade purple ninja suit, who helps the Ninja.
  • Ed and Edna Walker (voiced by Colin Murdock and Jillian Michaels respectively) – Jay's quaint and commonsensical adoptive parents, who frequently annoy Jay.
  • Dr. Julien (voiced by Mark Oliver) – An inventor who created Zane and the Falcon. He appears in the latter half of Season 2, and helps the Ninja fight against the Overlord.
  • Lou (voiced by Kirby Morrow) – Cole's musically inclined father, who inadvertently caused Cole to become a Ninja.
  • The First Spinjitzu Master – The legendary creator of the Ninjago world. He is the father of Wu and Garmadon, and the grandfather of Lloyd.
  • Nobu (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite) - A boy who assists the Ninja in the Cloud Kingdom.
  • Mystake (voiced by Mackenzie Gray) - A tea shop owner who provides Wu with magical tea.
  • Elemental Masters

The Elemental Masters are descendants of the First Spinjitzu Master, and each one possesses a single Elemental power (and the ability to conjure a dragon of their Element), much like the original four Ninja. The generation prior to the current one fought in the Serpentine War.

  • Skylor (voiced by Heather Doerksen) – Charismatic, careless and somewhat deceptive, Skylor's role shifts throughout Season 4. Initially appearing to help the Ninja, she is a double agent for most of Season 4, also helping her father Chen. She eventually stops helping Chen and becomes an ally of the ninja in all further appearances. Skylor can access the Elemental powers of anyone she has touched. Skylor has a romantic relationship with Kai, although this is not mentioned after Season 4.
  • Karlof (voiced by Scott McNeil) – A physically powerful man whose role shifts throughout Season 4. Initially Kai's nemesis, he becomes protective of Cole, and then allies with the Ninja. Karlof can turn his skin and armor into solid metal.
  • Griffin Turner (voiced by Doron Bell Jr.) – A speedy and cheerful man who quickly allies with the Ninja.
  • Neuro (voiced by Paul Dobson) – A mysterious man who sometimes helps the Ninja. He has the powers of telepathy and mind control.
  • Shade (voiced by Andrew Francis) – Initially opposed to the Ninja in an attempt to win Chen's tournament, Shade allies with the Ninja after realizing that the Tournament was a ruse. Shade can turn into a shadow, functionally giving him invisibility.
  • More Elemental Masters include Ash (voiced by Brent Miller), Bolobo (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite), Gravis (voiced by Kirby Morrow in episode 37, Mark Oliver in episode 44), Tox (voiced by Ian James Corlett), Paleman (voiced by Kirby Morrow), Jacob Pevsner (voiced by Paul Dobson), and Chamille (voiced by Maryke Hendrikse).
  • Villains

  • The Overlord (voiced by Scott McNeil) – The source of all evil in the Ninjago world, created with the Ninjago world itself. The Overlord is scheming and manipulative, and is willing to do anything to gain control of the world. The Overlord goes through many forms, each with its own powers. In his original, crystalline form, he has no powers, but he also has had a dragon form, capable of corrupting people with its breath, a computer virus form, with the power to take over a city through technology, and a three-legged-spider-mech Golden Master form, capable of massive destruction. The Overlord commanded the Stone Army and briefly possessed Garmadon before the Overlord's defeat in the Season 2 finale.
  • The Great Devourer – A giant snake who, according to legend, will destroy the world.
  • The Stone Army is a group of animated statues in samurai armor. They have no free will, but are instead controlled by whoever has most recently worn the Helmet of Darkness. Members include General Kozu (the leader of the Stone Army) (voiced by Paul Dobson), Stone Warriors (voiced by Scott McNeil), Stone Swordsmen, Stone Scouts, and an enormous Stone Warrior.
  • The Preeminent/Cursed Realm - The giant, jellyfish-like leader of the Ghost Warriors. As revealed in the Season 5 finale, the Preeminent contains the Cursed Realm inside herself and can launch Ghost Warriors at will.
  • Sensei Kodokuna Yang - Formerly a human sensei, Yang is now a ghost, haunting his former temple. He is known for his creation of Airjitzu, as well as the entrapment of his own students after his transformation into a ghost. Yang reveals in Day of the Departed that his ghostliness came from a desire for immortality, which he still harbors. Yang knows Airjitzu, as well as how to control the Yin Blade, a magical artifact responsible for his ghostliness.
  • Yang's Students: Yang has six known students: Chris, Martin, one called "Chuck" by Cole, and three unnamed students.
  • The Skullkin

The Skullkin are living skeletons who were formerly ruled by Samukai, and later by Garmadon.

  • Samukai (voiced by Michael Kopsa) – The leader of Garmadon's Skeleton Army, under Garmadon himself. In the pilot season finale, he explodes, giving full control of the Skeleton Army to Garmadon.
  • Kruncha and Nuckal (both voiced by Brian Drummond) – A pair of idiotic skeletons who constantly bicker with each other.
  • Other Skeletons include Wyplash (voiced by Michael Dobson and later by Michael Adamthwaite), Frakjaw, Krazi and Chopov (both voiced by Trevor Devall), and Bonezai.
  • The Serpentine

The Serpentine are a race of anthropomorphic snakes. Originally antagonistic towards the Ninja, they become friendly to the Ninja in Season 3.

  • Pythor P. Chumsworth (voiced by Michael Dobson) – A cunning snake who originally serves as an antagonist to the Ninja, but helps them in Season 4. He led the Serpentine, then assisted the Overlord, and finally aided the Ninja, only to turn against them (in Day of the Departed). He can turn invisible.
  • Arcturus (voiced by Scott McNeil) – The leader of the Serpentine in the Serpentine War.
  • The Hypnobrai – A tribe of snakes with mind-controlling abilities.
  • Skales (voiced by Ian James Corlett) – Skales is the leader of the Hypnobrai, after he usurps leadership from Slithraa. He then became the leader of the united Serpentine, originally under Pythor, then under Garmadon, and finally in complete control. By Season 3 he has a wife named Selma and a son named Skales Jr.
  • Slithraa (voiced by John Novak in most appearances, Ian James Corlett in The Titanium Ninja) – The Hypnobrai leader, before Skales took charge.
  • Other Hypnobrai include Selma (voiced by Jillian Michaels), Skales Jr. (voiced by Alyssya Swales), Mezmo (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite), and Rattla (voiced by Paul Dobson).
  • The Fangpyre – A tribe of snakes whose bite turns people into snakes and objects into snake-themed vehicles. The Fangpyre tribe includes Fangtom (its leader) (voiced by Mackenzie Gray), Fangdam, Fang-Suei, and Snappa.
  • The Constrictai – A tribe of very strong snakes with excellent burrowing skills. The Constrictai tribe includes Skalidor (its leader) (voiced by Michael Dobson), Bytar (voiced by Kirby Morrow), Chokun (voiced by Vincent Tong), and Snike (voiced by Brent Miller).
  • The Venomari – A tribe of snakes who can spit hallucinogenic venom. The Venomari tribe includes Acidicus (its leader) (voiced by Paul Dobson), Lizaru (voiced by Vincent Tong), Spitta (voiced by Kirby Morrow), and Lasha.
  • The Nindroid Army

The Nindroids are a group of androids with ninja gear, as well as built-in lasers and enhanced senses.

  • General Cryptor (voiced by Richard Newman) – The conceited leader of the Nindroids, who serves as an antagonist to the Ninja. He frequently insults his own troops, as well as the Ninja.
  • Min-Droid (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite) – A diminutive Nindroid who serves under Cryptor. Min-Droid is frequently obliterated by the Ninja, only to appear unharmed in a later episode.
  • Other Nindroids include Nindroid Drones and Nindroid Warriors.
  • Anacondrai Cultists

The Anacondrai Cultists are a cult of Anancondrai worshippers, led by Master Chen.

  • Master Chen (voiced by Ian James Corlett) – A crazy and powerful mastermind who leads a cult of Anacondrai worshippers. Chen also runs Master Chen's Noodle House, which he uses to conceal his illegal activities. He operates a chair, shown to have a massive array of functions (many more than he actually makes use of), and a staff which gains capabilities by draining the powers of Elemental Masters (including the Ninja). Chen is Skylor's father.
  • Clouse (voiced by Scott McNeil) – Chen's subservient right-hand man. He has many powers, most of which he uses by reading from his book of spells. These powers include shooting bolts of magical energy and creating portals. Clouse competed with Garmadon in their mutual training under Chen.
  • Kapau (voiced by Alessandro Juliani) and Chope (voiced by Ian Hanlin) – Originally two base-level guards working for Chen who give themselves "cool nicknames", and subsequently rise in importance.
  • Other Anacondrai Cultists include Eyezor (voiced by Michael Donovan), Zugu (also listed as Sumo Zumo) (voiced by Brian Dobson), Sleven, and Krait.
  • The Ghost Warriors

The Ghost Warriors are a group of ghosts summoned by Morro.

  • Morro (voiced by Andrew Francis, Michael Dobson in The Corridor of Elders) – Wu's former apprentice, bent on revenge for what he perceives as Wu's refusal to dub him the Green Ninja. Morro is an antagonist to the Ninja, and wishes to destroy them — particularly Lloyd, the actual Green Ninja — to earn the Green Ninja title. He repents for his evil deeds in the Season 5 finale and helps the Ninja in Day of the Departed.
  • Bansha (voiced by Kathleen Barr) - A short-tempered accomplice of Morro, who can cause avalanches with her voice.
  • Ghoultar (voiced by Paul Dobson) - An unintelligent ghost in Morro's employ who enjoys fighting.
  • Soul Archer (voiced by Brian Dobson) - One of Morro's followers, who Ronin owes money to. He is very patient, and shoots magical arrows.
  • Skreemers - Creatures who assist the Ghosts.
  • Other Ghost Warriors include Wrayth (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite), Ghost Ninja (Attila, Hackler, Howla, Ming, Spyder, and Wooo), and Ghost Warriors (Cowler, Cyrus, Ghurka, Pitch, Pyrrhus, Wail, and Yokai).
  • The Sky Pirates

The Sky Pirates are a motley crew of renegades who are led by Nadakhan, a Djinn from another realm, and crew a vessel known as Misfortune's Keep.

  • Nadakhan (voiced by Scott McNeil) - An evil genie, who prefers to be called a djinn. He is obsessed with destroying the Ninja and restoring his home realm, as the Ninja caused his home realm's destruction. Nadakhan is also obsessed with marrying Nya, as doing so will grant him infinite wishes of his own. Also, she looks like his former love interest. He commands an army of Sky Pirates as the captain of their ship, and can personally teleport at will. In addition, he gives everyone three wishes, but often tricks people into capturing themselves inside his sword by "wishing it all away", empowering him. Nadakhan often remarks "Your wish is yours to keep…" just before granting a wish.
  • Flintlocke (voiced by Paul Dobson) - Nadakhan's calm first mate, who at first trusts Nadakhan completely. He later becomes suspicious of Nadakhan's ulterior motives, eventually joining the Ninja against Nadakhan. Flintlocke is able to shoot very accurately, except for a brief period of time when he was a terrible shot (as a result of a wish).
  • Doubloon (voiced by Vincent Tong) - A high-ranking Sky Pirate who is good at picking locks, and at melee combat.
  • Clancee (voiced by Ian James Corlett) - The Sky Pirates’ janitor, often treated poorly by the ship's crew, especially Flintlocke. He is occasionally promoted to a higher position, only to be promptly lowered to his janitorial position. Clancee is one of the first Sky Pirates to sympathize with the Ninja.
  • Dogshank (voiced by Nicole Oliver) - A colossal Sky Pirate, who joins the Ninja in the Season 6 finale. She wields an anchor and chain, which she uses to smash objects or ensnare her enemies.
  • Monkey Wretch (voiced by Ian James Corlett) - The Sky Pirates’ mechanic.
  • Other Sky Pirates include Squiffy (sometimes spelled Sqiffy) (voiced by Michael Adamthwaite), Bucko (voiced by Brian Dobson), and Cyren.
