List of Game Boy Color games

The following is a list of 576 games for the Game Boy Color. All games are released in Europe and the USA. The last game to be published for the system was Doraemon no Study Boy : Kanji Yomikaki Master, which was released in Japan on July 18, 2003. The number of games in this list is, organized alphabetically by name. See Lists of video games for related lists.

Note that this list includes two classes of games:

  • Class A, compatible with all Game Boy systems, feature the text "Yes" in the column indicating backward compatibility. The back of the box art for such games typically features at least two screenshots of the game, of which one is in color mode while another in monochrome mode. The cases of most of these games were molded in black to distinguish them from original Game Boy games, the only exceptions being the export versions of Pokémon Gold and Silver (molded in gold and silver, respectively), and the Japanese version of the latter (molded in a dark gray). Many of them also had special borders and/or limited color support for the Super Game Boy.
  • Class B, compatible only with the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Player. They feature the text "No" in the column indicating backward compatibility. Such games typically feature the disclaimers "Only for Game Boy Color" and "Not compatible with other Game Boy systems!" on their box art or sometimes on the cartridge.
  • Unlicensed games

Several unlicensed games were released for the Game Boy Color. Almost all are backward compatible with older Game Boy systems. Titles consist of Christian video games as well as counterfeit games based on popular franchises.
