The Lismore House Hotel is an historic hotel located in Lismore, Ireland. Built in 1797 by the Duke of Devonshire, it is Ireland’s oldest purpose built hotel.
History
The hotel known as the Devonshire Arms Hotel has been featured in travel guides since at least the 19th Century. A guide from 1871 advises to dine or lunch at the hotel travelling on the road from Youghal, allowing three shillings for the purpose.
