Line R1 or Line 18 of the Beijing Subway (Chinese: 北京地铁R1线; pinyin: běijīng dìtiě ēr yī hàoxiàn) is a rapid transit rail line under planning in Beijing. R1 is the code name for an express line that is planned to run parallel to Line 1.
History
In January 2011, the R1 Line was described by the Tongzhou District leadership as a line that would run parallel to Line 1 which would be built before 2015. The line was named in February 2012 as one of six new lines under planning by the city's public transit planning authorities. It is included in the city's subway plan for 2020.
