Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.1 square miles (85.8 km²), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 730 people, 263 households, and 199 families residing in the town. The population density was 22.0 people per square mile (8.5/km²). There were 287 housing units at an average density of 8.7 per square mile (3.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.63% White, 0.41% African American, 0.27% Asian, 0.14% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population.
There were 263 households out of which 37.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 3.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 19.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the town, the population was spread out with 30.4% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
