"Lightspeed" is a song by Dev from her first studio album, The Night the Sun Came Up. It was released with a music video on November 22, 2011 as a promotional single. It's primarily a futuristic hip-hop song with the presence of panflute sound, articulating basses and a coughing effect after the chorus.

Critical reception

After its release, the song received mainly positive reviews from the critics. SputnikMusic commented the song saying that "As one of the best track on the album, with electronic production so strong that it makes up for the lack of pipes, the lyrics make you want to go hard. The Cataracs manage to keep the panflute fresh with this track, and that's saying something. Oh, and the breakdown also involves coughing." Slantmagazine also cited Lightspeed in his review of the album, calling the coughing and the nods to soy milk and eye drops "inexplicable".

Music video

On 22 November 2011 Dev uploaded on her Vevo channel along with the slogan "Travel With DEV". The promotional video shows Dev being acclaimed by her fans and going shopping with her fiancé, while performing in several legs of her tour (as London, Abu Dhabi, Sao Paulo, Beirut and Curitiba) and going shopping with her fiancé. The following day, the video was uploaded on Dailymotion, where it gained even more views.

Charts

The song charted in several Dance/Electronic charts, but it failed to get over Dev's previous single In The Dark in any territory.
