Lewman Arthur Lane was the 24th head football coach for Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and he held that position for the 1945 season. His overall coaching record at Washburn was 3 wins, 1 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 30th at Washburn in terms of total wins and fourth at Washburn in terms of winning percentage. He had previously coached at Rockhurst University before coming to Washburn. He returned there to coach football again in 1947.

He was a druggist who managed a family drug store which was founded by his father, Daniel J. Lane, at St. Mary's Township, Kansas. He died in 1980.
