Five trains per hour (one from Alderley Edge, Chester, Crewe, Hazel Grove and Stoke-on-Trent) depart Levenshulme towards Manchester Piccadilly northbound during the day. One of these continues to Blackpool North via Preston. Southbound trains go through Stockport towards Alderley Edge, Hazel Grove, Crewe, Buxton, Stoke-on-Trent and Chinley (peak hours only).

The service pattern is as follows:
