The lesser tube-nosed bat (Nyctimene minutus) is a species of megabat in the family Pteropodidae. It is native to two of the Maluku Islands (Spice Islands) in northern Indonesia.

Distribution

The bat is endemic to the mountainous forests of Buru and Seram Islands, in Maluku Province. It is not found on nearby Ambon Island.

Populations are found within Manusela National Park on Seram island. The habitat has an area of less than 2,000 km².

Its habitats are decreasing due to logging, and so since 1996 it has been listed on the IUCN Red List as a Vulnerable species. At least though they apparently adjust well to the human environment, and are not hunted by the indigenous population because of the bat's small size.
