Arizona's Legislative District 6 is a new district, based on population growth or decline across the state according to the 2010 census. There are always 30 legislative districts in Arizona. The population of each needs to be roughly equivalent in number to one another. To get the best representation at the State Capitol in Phoenix, the law requires a district to be a good mix of different political parties, rather than lopsided favoring one party.
