Lat Pau

Lat Pau (Chinese: 叻報) was one of the earliest Chinese-language newspapers published in Singapore. It was firstly published by See Ewe Lay (Chinese: 薛有礼) in name of Lat Pau Press Ltd (Chinese: 叻報有限公司) since December 1881, and in circulation for 52 years until its final print at March 1932, where makes it become to be the longest local-running Chinese newspaper in the pre-World War II.

Lat Pau initially was published in Classical Chinese, however from 1925 onwards, the newspaper switched to use Vernacular Chinese.
