Plot summary

A new rookie is introduced to the 55th precinct causing unease among some of its policemen.

Plot details

Captain Finney keeps presurring Sasha to get information out of Yokas about Mann's shooting. Meanwhile in the precinct, Lt. Swerzky tells the policemen that there is a change in the pairs, and that Officer Davis has been promoted to Field Training Officer and has to be in charge of the new rookie, whose last name Swerzky says is "Finney". When John 'Sully' Sullivan hears this, he starts boasting about how they can relate him to Captain Finney, and how he is just a corrupted cop, without noticing that Brendan Finney (Captain Finney's son) is standing right behind him. When he finds out they are related, and that Ty is going to be partnered with Brendan, he tells Swerzky that it's inadvisable, and asks him why Sasha cannot be partnered with him instead.

Outside the precinct, Finney goes immediately to the driver seat, but Ty says he cannot, as he is only on probation. After this, Brendan acts as if he was hurt by Sully's words, looking all depressed, so Ty lets him drive. As he is about to start the engine, Brendan tells Ty that he couldn't care less about what people think about his father and speeds away.

Meanwhile, in the fire station, Carlos Nieto still tries to impress Grace Foster and he fails miserably as Holly watches in dismay. They soon get a call of 911 concerning a man who was in a spiritist ritual and couldn't breathe. Carlos gets mad at the oracle, as she nearly killed the man by impersonating his dead wife, and tells her she won't be paid. The woman gets really angry, and curses Carlos, who couldn't care less. Problem is, strange things start happening to him, like nearly being run over by a taxi, a crazy man telling him he will die, hot coffee falling in his arms and a man falling on top of him. After this, he is so spooked that he asks Grace and Holly to help him and give him the 100 dollars the woman wanted as pay to get away his curse. Holly then makes a ritual, by which he takes away his "curse", and then kisses him, as the planets are aligned, and it was Carlos's time to fall in love according to it.

Sully and Sasha get a call from supposed gunfire (which was actually a Chinese wedding), and rush to the scene, but are nearly run over by Finney and Ty. When Brendan gets to the scene, he immediately takes his gun out and frightens everyone, and Ty tells him to calm down. When a very angered Sully arrives at the scene, he shouts at Brendan, but this all stops when a man passes on a motorbike and shoots the bride. Sully then goes to chase him, but misses him.

Miller and Cruz go to the crime scene, and Cruz immediately links the shooting to a drug gang, but Miller stops her and instead asks for a translator to be brought in. She finally solves the case before Miller, who realizes that Cruz is very good at what she does.

When Ty takes control of the car again, they drive until they stop at a light. A beautiful woman is parked besides them, and Brendan starts to show off in front of her, and tells him that he never sees anything interesting, and the light goes green. Suddenly, the woman is hit first by a car and then by a truck, and her car turns upside down. As she is a doctor, she realizes that she will die and makes Brendan write her will, and tell some things to her daughter. After visiting the broken-hearted man, Ty tells Brendan that that is the worst thing he will have to face, and gives a speech, to what Brendan remains neutral.

Faith goes to visit her husband Fred and tells him about her promotion ceremony, but Fred tells her that he won't go, and that if the kids want to go he'll take them. After they fail to show up, Sasha takes her out for a glass of wine, pretending to be honored by taking out a detective to dinner. We soon find out that she is wired and undercover agents are listening to all Faith is saying.
