Largo Medical Center is a 425-bed teaching hospital located in Largo, in the US state of Florida. The hospital has three campuses in Largo and in Clearwater, employs approximately 1,800 people, and is owned by Hospital Corporation of America, a Nashville, Tennessee-based company. As a teaching facility, Largo Medical Center operates a number of osteopathic residency programs. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission.

History

In 2011, nurses at Largo Medical Center protested, with concerns regarding adequate staffing. Following the prior nurses' protest, which took place one year prior, the hospital became associated with the National Nurses Organizing Committee. The nurses at Largo Medical Center and other nearby hospitals, a total of 3,100 nurses, joined a nurses' union in 2012.

In 2012, a new chief executive officer was appointed, as Tony Degina replaced Ricky Satcher.
