The largest metropolitan areas in the Nordic countries are difficult to rank in size because the definition patterns are different from country to country.

These are the only Metropolitan Areas recognized by OECD - limit is set to at least 1 million However we continue by also counting municipalities (and other constructions) down to a municipality population of 100.000 and above.
