Lamplighters Theatre Company is an American semi-professional community theatre company in Smyrna, Tennessee. Established in 1998 as a ministry of Smyrna Assembly of God, their purpose is to "utilize the dramatic arts to advance the kingdom of God on the earth." They attempt to accomplish this by:

  • Producing theatrical events that promote biblical values in general and the message of the gospel in particular,
  • Providing a working model for a theatrical company operating under the covering of a local church.
  • Promoting professional quality in church-based productions.
  • Preparing believers to enter the secular performing arts while maintaining the integrity of their faith.
  • Lamplighters Theatre currently does four major productions a year. In addition to a full season of major productions they intend to present workshop productions of shorter works in a blackbox setting called Lab Rats Theatre.

    Plans include:

  • Becoming a full-time semi-professional rep company operating within the framework of Smyrna Assembly of God.
  • Institution of an annual SALT Drama Festival where new works are presented and prizes are awarded for new dramatic material written from a Christian world view.
  • Creation of a school of the arts to prepare believers for careers in the secular performing arts and to lead in the production of the arts within the local church.
