Lamboo is a building supplies company founded by Luke Schuette in Springfield, Illinois in 2003, launching its first products in 2007.

Company overview

The Entrepreneurial Mindset described Lamboo as a company combining the work of "architects, structural engineers, material scientist, and biotechnology specialist[s]" to produce "engineered structural bamboo for architectural applications". The company has used its products to help design eco-friendly homes, including components for windows and doors. It began exporting its products out of Illinois in 2009. In 2010 Lamboo was a DWM Magazine Green Product Award nominee in the wood products category. From 2011 to 2013 the company ran a development space in Galesburg, Illinois within their Sustainable Business Center. In 2013 the company presented on its work in sustainability at the American Institute of Architects National Convention.

The company has five product lines. In 2012 it expanded into the aviation industry to supply panelling for the interior of business jets. Lamboo is offered in products produced by more than thirty partner companies, in addition to being sold directly as structural material to contractors. For example, the majority of the entry-ways to Pier 1 Imports have been constructed from the material. In 2011 Lamboo also partnered with Fender Guitars to produce the Lamboo Telecaster. Lamboo uses only 6 out of the available 1600 species of bamboo for use in its materials.
