Lake City College Preparatory Academy is a Nationally Accredited private Christian School founded in 2007 , Lake City College Preparatory Academy currently serves students in grades PK-12 using a creative art-based curriculum. Lake City College Preparatory Academy is located in Lake City, South Carolina. In 2009 the school was granted a charter by the state of South Carolina. After admitting many at-risk students from the local public schools in the surrounding area, the school struggled trying to improve student academic achievement levels. On April 2014 the state superintendent announced that the school eventually received a "B" rating. The awards were an amazing accomplishment for the many students living in poverty. While some students entered with above average grades, most did not. The majority came from the local public school districts that struggled to educate students from the high risk rural community. These students were the descendants of sharecroppers, and the grandchildren of the original southern migrant workers. To top it off, the students came from school districts that had been historically underfunded by the state. This sad reality was cited in South Carolina's historical landmark case, which graphically describes the level of discrimination that generations of these rural children and their schools experienced.

"The Corridor of Shame," was a documentary that revealed the dismal complexities uncovered by an extensive investigation. This case confirmed the fact that, not only did these students receive unequal funding from the state, but their parents before them also experienced these same situation. Thus, Lake City College Prep Academy was a school that pledged to educate these students coming from an area dubbed, "The Corridor of Shame." Therefore, receiving a "B" on the school report card became the pride of everyone associated with the school. Overall, receipt of both, the SC Palmetto Gold and Silver 2014 awards were the affirmation that the school was a great success. These awards also proved that students were making academic progress, because the state confirmed that LCCPA showed tremendous academic growth. The hard working staff, students and parents who understood the importance of this hard work were finally rewarded. However, that same year, with new legislation in place which should have protected the school, its contract with the state ended, and the school opened as a private school.

Researchers have said that the school's success can be measured by awards; but most of all, it should be measured by the students that graduate from school and go into society.

This award winning school also won:
