According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 34.6 square miles (89.7 km²), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 929 people, 342 households, and 266 families residing in the town. The population density was 26.8 people per square mile (10.4/km²). There were 352 housing units at an average density of 10.2 per square mile (3.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.71% White, 0.32% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.32% Asian, and 0.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.22% of the population.
There were 342 households out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% were non-families. 16.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.04.
