La Gloria is a Puerto Rican shoe store chain, which has stores across the tiny Caribbean nation, including one in Plaza Carolina, near Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Carolina.

Brief history

The first La Gloria store opened in 1940.

During much of its existence, La Gloria faced stiff opposition from Almacenes Gonzalez, another nationwide Puerto Rican shoe retailer store chain, and, for children shoes, with Chiquitin, a store chain which catered to children and teenager's shoe needs.

Its main competitor, as of 2016, is Humberto Vidal. La Gloria and Humberto Vidal were in fact, owned by the same family, the Vidal family, forming a duopoly.
