Kurt Prinz (3 April 1920 – 7 April 2009) was a highly decorated Major of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Kurt Prinz was captured by American troops in May 1945 in the Ruhr Pocket. In 1946 he was handed over to Soviet forces and held until 1949.
