Kudumbi Seva Sangham (KSS) is a social organization of the Kudumbi community of India. It is working for the upliftment of this community in Kerala state. KSS has now become the official organization of all Kudumbis. About four lakh Kudumbis are living in Kerala.
Kudumbi Seva Sangham was established in 1965 and works for the social, cultural and educational uplifting of the Kudumbi community. KSS has a registered office at Nandiyathukunnam, North Paravur, Ernakulam, Kerala. Its administrative office is located at Ernakulam, Kochi. Gandhi Krishnan is the Patron Leader of the organisation. KSS has a three tiered organisational structure. It comprises a state executive, 12 Taluk unions and nearly 216 local branches.
For many decades KSS has been leading the community, having organized campaigns for raising their social demands. Many demands have been achieved, but the demand for the inclusion of the Kudumbi community in the SC / ST list still remains unfulfilled. After two years of organised struggle and campaigns under the leadership of KSS, in 2008 1% state reservations were granted vide (GO (MS) No. 95/98 dt.16-10-2008) to the Kudumbi community in various professional courses, such as engineering and medical fields. This has helped many deserving students to improve their educational backgrounds, and achieve better career growth, thus gaining a better social status.
In 2008 the Sri Kurumba Self Help group was started in many KSS local branches. It is the largest welfare program launched by KSS, and especially improves women's enpowerment. KYS, KKSA and KMSS are the sub-organisations working under the KSS, representing the youth, students, and women of the community.
