Kolar Congress Candidate Kothur G. Manjunath's Nomination Rejected
Kothur G. Manjunath is an Indian politician and incumbent member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Mulbagal constituency. He represents the Congress party. Independent MLA from Mulbagal has joined the Congress on June 4, 2013.
Manjunath, who was caught in a controversy over his caste certificate, had entered the election fray as an independent candidate after having been denied a ticket by the Congress from this constituency.
He was welcomed into the party fold at the home office of the chief minister, ‘Krishna’, on Monday June 3, 2013.
It is said that union minister, K H Muniyappa, played an important role in bringing Manjunath back into the Congress fold. It is said that Muniyappa is concerned over the fact that the Congress could bag only two assembly seats from Kolar district in the last month’s election.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, G Parameshwar, and chief minister, Siddaramaiah, were present at the time.
