Kitab salat al sawai

The Kitab salat al-sawai is widely considered the first book in Arabic printed using moveable type. It was a book of hours intended for Arabic-speaking Christians and presumably commissioned by Pope Julius II. It had 120 un-numbered pages. Some eight or nine copies are known to survive.

The book is dated 12 September 1514, and was almost certainly printed by Gregorio di Gregorii, very probably in Venice, despite the colophonic attribution to Fano.

The psalms used are those of the eleventh-century Malachite bishop Abd Allah ibn al-Fadl.
