Kiandieri is a locality in Kenya, Central Province in the larger Kirinyaga County. It has a small commercial centre also known as Kiandieri town. It consists of sub-areas like Ithanji, Kanjibi, Kiamariga, Kangunga, Kanjuki, kieni, gatomboya etc. Approximately 121.23;km away, from Nairobi it is under Kimandi sub location administrative zone and in kerugoya ward and in Kirinyaga Central constituency where Mr Kariuki Ngata, was elected PM during the 2007 General Elections. His election was challenged in court by his opponent mr Daniel Karaba. The petition wasdismissed by the high court sitting in Nyeri but at a subsequent appeal at the Court of Apeal in Nairobi the petition was allowed and M Kariuki lost the seat. During the ensuing by_election in which mr Ngata kariuki did not contest, Mr Gachoki gitari was elected Mp and was re-elected in the general elections of 2013. He continues to serve.

Its name can be traced back to pre_colonial times, when thousands of white birds with red/ pink beaks, called 'Ndieri' used to live and populate the area and predominantly around the grazing cattle from which they fed on ticks and mites, hence the name Kiandieri meaning 'The Place with Ndieri's'

Economic work of the populace is largely small scale Mixed farming with majority of the people are the middle age and young generation who are formally educated in government schools found in the area as well as privately owned primary schools.

There is currently one secondary school,Kiandieri Day Mixed Secondary School, which started in 1994, and Kiandieri Primary school which started during the colonial period. There is no technical or a polytechnic in this locality and students rely on other nearby towns such as Kerugoya, kutus, kaitheri, Nyeri or Nairobi for further studies. It is also falling back on health service provision as there is a dispensary built with funds from the CDF but since health is now a County Govt function, the dispensary lies in disuse.. in terms of other infrastructure: All roads leading to this village are either murramed [the ones leading to the tea Collection centres] or just unmotorable paths and hence they are impassable during the rainy season or very dusty during the hot season.

Following the government policy of rural electrification, the place is well served with electricity. The initial main supply line served the local coffee threshing factory found in the area and thereafter to individual homes and in the market area. The economic activities in the area are largely controlled by the heavy regular and reliable rainfall. These are predominantly small scale tea farming and a scattering of coffee farms but coffee farming has greatly declined due to the falling returns from coffee. Dairy farming employing zero grazing is widespread as well as fruit and vegetable farming for domestic consumption and for sale. Macadamia nuts are also widely grown in the area though due to land fragmentation as a result of population growth, the acreage is slowly declining. also there is endeavors to produce hydro power station by the local community using the several significant rivers and

streams in the area, example is Kibae community power center (CPC), with Renewable Energy Source of 2KW Micro-hydro, 500W Solar which is about 2 km from the village itself.

Majority of the people are Christians from different denominations with majority being Catholics other churches found there are ACK, GOSPEL CHURCH OF KENYA, SEVENTH DAY ETC.
