Kelly Ridge sits at an elevation of 1050 feet (320 m), on a ridge above Lake Oroville reservoir in the Sierra Nevada foothills.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Kelly Ridge had a population of 2,544. The population density was 1,303.7 people per square mile (503.4/km²). The racial makeup of Kelly Ridge was 2,287 (89.9%) White, 20 (0.8%) African American, 56 (2.2%) Native American, 35 (1.4%) Asian, 7 (0.3%) Pacific Islander, 43 (1.7%) from other races, and 96 (3.8%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 204 persons (8.0%).
