He signed a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs for the 2016 season. He spent 2016 with the Tennessee Smokies, where he batted .266 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI's.

On November 26, 2016, Dugan signed a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
