Kazuma Ogaeri (born December 23, 1955) is a Japanese photographer. Originally from Oita Prefecture.
Life and work
Around the age of 10, borrowed his father's Pentax SP and became passionate about steam locomotive photography. Took part in the Oita Prefecture Art Exhibition and was awarded prizes several times. Started darkroom work around the age of 12. After graduating Hita Prefetucral High School, started studies in the Department of Science and Engineering, Chuo University.
Dropped out of university and devoted himself to music. Formed a four-person rock band, Moon Dance, taking part as vocalist and guitarist. After the band broke up, pursued a career as a soloist. While performing at various live house venues such as Shibuya Take-Off7, Shinjuku LOFT, and Shinjuku Ruido, established a music production company and was involved in composition and production. In 1982, released the single version of "Crying in the City / Mo Ichido Rabu Songu" on his own record label with arrangement and piano by composer Toshiyuki Omori. For the live version, Yasuharu Ogura, band member of EXILE, played the piano.
Active as a photographer since August 1991. Commissioned by the magazine Hot-Dog PRESS, shot snap photography of female university students on the streets of Shibuya. This inspired him to continue shooting everyday women as photographic subjects. Has photographed over 700 female models to date. In October 1993, was assigned photographer for Fuji Television's "Iron Chef." Has been running a photography school since 2004.
