Kattu Sullur is a village in Villupuram district of Tamil-Nadu. People living in this village before Chola's and Pallava's administration. There are many temples in this village but mainly celebrating four festivals i.e.:

  1. Vijaya Dhasami – Celebrating on the next day of Aayuth Poojai every year and continues 7 days or 5 days based on the people wealth in that year. Goddes Chelliyamman (DurgaDevi) will be in Kolu about 9 days from Ammavasai on Purattasi Maatham and God will continue Archery on Banana tree knot with Vanni leafs. After that, God will come for Thiru Veethi Ula (Utsavam) in the Village. People from other villages and Girls who got married to other places from this village are coming to see God and get blesses. Two or three days Theru Koothu will be performed.
  1. Masi Magam – Its a day Festival on the Pournamy of Masi Maatham(Feb-Mar) every year. Many shops will be opened with sweet stalls, Fruits, different Saddles, Ring Toss, Ornaments, cloths, etc..
  1. Kangai Amman – Usually the Koozh Varthal will be celebrated on every Aadi Month and the date is not a fixed one, Leaders will consult with people and decide the date when and how to celebrate. One or two days Theru Koothu will be performed.
  1. Panguni Uthiram – Known that its Special day for lord Murugan, So the Murugan devotes praise the god and perform the sword piercing, The function starts at Kedilam River and ends up at Murugan temple after coming a round of the Village.

Basically people are dependent on agriculture and its relevant work, but since 1995 a group of people go for concrete work where they build up new buildings and/or cement roads around 50 km surrounding.

Earlier, people used to go Bangalore for the same building construction work and then go for reaping Paddy in southern districts, reaping groundnut near the Andra Pradesh border.

Now, most of the farmers not cultivating the paddy, ground nuts, turmeric, Elephant Yam, Urid dal, Tapioca, Cotton, Pearl millet, Ragi, Corn, etc.. But Sugar cane cultivation is the major farming here for the past few years.
