Karl Holluba (born August 27, 1944) is a German political figure and the treasurer of the The Left Party. Previously, he was a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS).

Biography

He received his Abitur in 1962 and began an apprenticeship as a shopkeeper. From 1963 to 1968, he studied finance at the Fachhochschule fur Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin.

He became a member of the SED in 1967 and served from 1968 to 1971 as a business assistant at the University of Economics.

From November 1971 until 1986, he was on the central committee of the Free German Youth, and after 1980 became a division leader for finance. He attended the Party University of Karl Marx from July 1986 to June 1987, and from July 1987 to the end of 1989, he worked in the Central Committee of the SED as a financial administrator. After 1990, he begin to administer finance for the PDS and become the finance department chief in 1991.

In April 2006, he was chosen to be treasurer of the Left Party, and he kept this position after their merger with Labour and Social Justice – The Electoral Alternative.
