Karaiyalar also known as Parvatharajakulam, Neer Vellalar and Sembadavar is a caste found in the parts of Tamil Nadu and other parts of Sri Lanka. Traditionally they were the warrior class, mercenaries, seafaring community and involved in coastal commercial activities.
