Kanchrapara Airstrip is a former military airstrip located near Kanchrapara, in West Bengal, India.

History

During September–c. 4 October 1945 World War II, the airfield was used as a reconnaissance base by the 8th Reconnaissance Group of United States Army Air Forces Tenth Air Force. It was home to several P-51 Mustang, B-25 Mitchell and P-38 Lightning airframes during that time. After World War II this airstrip was closed and left abandoned. Presently the air force has opened Air Force Selection Board AFSB here which was inaugurated in 2014. This Airfield is becoming operational again. The boundaries has been fenced again.Civilians are no longer allowed to enter. An old MIG-21 has been brought here for show case, it can be seen from the main gate. All these days it was used by the local inhabitants and the NCC for physical training purpose.
