As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 131 Kakdwip (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Kakdwip community development block, and Budhakhali and Narayanpur gram panchayats of Namkhana community development block.

Kakdwip (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 20 Mathurapur (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC).

2011

Manturam Pakhira of Trinamool Congress won the seat defeating his nearest rival Milan Bhattacharya of CPI(M).

1977-2006

In the 2006 state assembly elections, Ashok Giri of CPI(M) won the Kakdwip assembly seat defeating Manturam Pakhira of Trinamool Congress. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Manturam Pakhira representing Trinamool Congress had won the seat in 2001defeating Ashok Giri of CPI(M). In 1996Ashok Giri of CPI(M) defeated Manturam Pakhira representing Congress. Hrishikesh Maity of CPI(M) won the seat in 1991,1987, 1982 and 1977 defeating Gourishankar Bhattacharjee of Congress in 1991and 1987 and Basudev Sautya of Congress in 1982and 1977.

1957-1972

Basudeb Sautya of Congress won in 1972.Hrishikesh Maity of CPI(M) won in 1971.Hansadhwaj Dhara of Congress won in 1969and 1967.Maya Banejee of Congress won in 1962and 1957.
