Kadir Akbulut (born 24 December 1983, in Sakarya) is a Turkish playwright and director.

Life and career

He was born Sakarya in 1983. He was graduated from Adapazarı Primary School, Üsküdar Anatolian High School and Haydarpaşa Technical High School. He started his art life in İstanbul Municipal Theater Müsahipzade Celal participating in a play called ‘A Marriage Proposal’ written by Anton Chekhov.

He left the Yıldız Technical University 'Technology and Computer Sciences' for his love of theater. He started his professional theater life in Tevfik Gelenbe Theater. He discovered his interest for shooting while he was taking part in the plays. He wrote articles about cinema for newspapers and magazines. He made a cinema programme in a radio channel. He started the joint venture of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and Adapazarı film-makers. He organized short-long film shows and chatting activities. He presented the play ‘Three on a Seesaw’ by Luigi Lunari in Sakarya and he took part in the play himself. He also assisted Ertekin Akpınar with his film ‘Melekler ve Kumarbazlar’.

He finished the Faculty of fine arts and graduated from Kocaeli University as a script writer. He wrote a thesis about the drama that the play characters of Orhan Kemal has in his stories. He wrote the play called ‘The Love of Money’ which has similarities to Orhan Kemal’s works. Two of his plays were put on stage on the World Theatre Day. One of his other plays were played on Kocaeli SDKM by the people who works at health services. The play called ‘Nerim’s Room’ was played at Kocaeli University in a college play. He went to Germany as an Erasmus participant and had been an assistant there at Theaterperipherie in Frankfurt. He performed in plays like ‘Waiting for Godot’ and ‘Maria Magdalena’ there.

After he returned Turkey, he started teaching. He run a theater course for teachers in Geyve. He worked with Şahin Schools as a drama teacher. He was awarded by Adapazarı Lions Club for his efforts and contributions for art. He worked at Sakarya Governorship Culture and Tourism Directorate as a drama teacher. Later he started working at Doğa Schools. He prepared projects with his students about street theater and short-film.

He has been teaching in Ataşehir Incity & Oxford Doğa School since September, 2013. He continues writing at different platforms about cinema and theater.
