According to the station's website, KSPI has been operational since 1947.
On December 5, 2016 KSPI changed their format from sports to alternative rock, branded as "Pete 94.3" (simulcast on FM translator K233BQ 94.3 FM Stillwater). 94.3 Pete is almost similar to the famous Jack FM format.
