KAVL (610 AM, "Fox Sports 610") is a sports radio station broadcasting from Lancaster, California owned by RZ Radio LLC.

It has a directional-east 4900 watt signal during the day and a directional-south 4000 watt signal during the night.

History

KAVL came on air on September 8, 1950 on 1340 kHz. It moved to 610 kHz. in 1958. It is programmed Sports Radio 610. In 1998, Jacor Communications acquired the radio station along with KAVS and KYHT. KAVL was made as a simulcast of KXTA-AM, "XTRA Sports 1150," in Los Angeles, California. Some of KAVL's programming was simulcast on 1220 AM in Santa Clarita (today KHTS).

Sometime after the Jacor/Clear Channel merge, the simulcast ended; since then, KAVL's lineup consists nearly entirely of Fox Sports Radio programs. Also on KAVL are radio broadcasts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, The Los Angeles Lakers and the National Football League (through Westwood One). KAVL is the longest running Dodger affiliate in Southern California, having broadcast the Dodgers since 1958.
