Juan Rute or Ruter (16th century) was an English sailor and explorer. He belonged to the small group of Englishmen who served in the Spanish crown during the conquest of the New World.

Rute, born possibly in London, arrived in the Río de la Plata in the expedition of Pedro de Mendoza, participating in the founding of Buenos Aires. His son Miguel de Rute attended the founding of Santa Fe.
