José Melo de Oliveira (Ipixuna, 26 September 1946) is a Brazilian politician, the current governor of state of Amazonas, Brazil.

Graduated in economics from the Federal University of Amazonas in 1967, Melo began public life still at the university, where he served in various roles, among them those of the typist and director of the Department of Education and Sports. Also was Sub Rector for Academic Affairs and a member of the University Council. Exercised the profession of teacher in the High School State Estelita Tapajós, where he taught History. He also taught at the former Federal Technical School of Amazonas. Your role as a professor at the University of Amazonas, took was between 1970 and 1984. He assumed the position of governor of the state of Amazonas by the Republican Party of the Social Order, when Omar Aziz was the dispute for the Senate in 2014 general elections.
