John "Til"

John T. "Til" Hazel is an attorney and real-estate developer in Northern Virginia who is credited with developing several portions of Fairfax County into major commercial areas from the 1960s through the present. He created Tysons Corner, Virginia, one of the country's first edge cities.

In addition to his commercial endeavors, Hazel is also a founder of the Virginia Business-Higher Education Council, an organization promoting cooperation between industry and universities in Virginia. He is also a vice chairman of the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC.

Until recently, Hazel also served as a senior partner in the law firm of Reed Smith Hazel and Thomas. Reed Smith, an international firm, merged with Northern Virginia-based Hazel and Thomas in 1999.
