Life and career

Known as "Cowboy", McCormack started boxing in 1950 at the age of fifteen. By 1956 he held the Scottish and A.B.A. Light Middleweight titles as an amateur. He earned the bronze medal in the light middleweight division (– 71 kg) at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. McCormack compiled an amateur record of 103-6 (51 knockouts).

McCormack died on 27 May 2014 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughter Kim, his son Mark, and grandchildren.
