John Jorah Koster [1] is an American filmmaker.
Koster is the grandson of Solomon Alter, who was involved with the Stecky II camera and Bitec Computers. When Koster was seven, Alter gave Koster his first camera, a Paillard Bolex 8 mm. Koster made over twenty films with this camera, beginning at age 8.
As a college student, Koster studied abroad in Berlin, and held an internship at an east German newspaper. Then, a German photo editor helped Koster to get a job taking photos for the Axel Springer publishing house in Berlin, Germany.
Koster finished a Bachelor of Arts in New York, and was hired by Jeffrey L. Kimball as an uncredited camera apprentice on the MGM film Windtalkers. Today, Koster resides in the San Diego area.
Koster's film, Yonderville was produced by Play Mountain Pictures and [2] starred Ken Gregg[3], Tamela Turtle , Jeremy Hust and guest Juan Rivera. The film was featured at the 2007 Trail Dance Film Festival in Duncan, Oklahoma, at which it received two "Golden Drovers" awards for "Best Thriller" and "Best Original Song".
