John Maurer


John J. Maurer (born July 11, 1922) is an American politician and airline pilot.

Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Maurer served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a B24 pilot in the European theater and served with distinction. He went to Marquette University and was a commercial airline pilot for Capital Airlines and United Airlines. He retired as a DC-10 Captain from United Airlines. He also served in the town of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin as a town supervisor and chairman. He served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1975 to 1985 as a Democrat. He then served as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
