John C. Anderton is an American ornithologist and bird illustrator.
His work includes painting 69 of the 180 plates in Birds of South Asia. The Ripley Guide, written with professor Pamela C. Rasmussen.
The book's covers are also illustrated by Anderton. Volume 1 features crimson-backed flameback, stork-billed kingfisher, Indian eagle-owl, black-and-orange flycatcher and Himalayan quail on its front cover, and Volume 2 features six laughingthrush species; the back covers of both volumes feature a painting of Serendib and Nicobar scops-owls.
Family Life
John Christopher Anderton is married to Lillian Fletcher Olmstead Anderton and has two children by the names of James Anderton (born on November 17, 2001) and Margaret Anderton (born December 21, 2005)
