John Algeo (born 1930) is a Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Georgia. He is a Theosophist and a Freemason He was the Vice President of the Theosophical Society Adyar.

He was born in St Louis, Missouri. He was a student of the University of Florida. He joined the army and served in the Korean War and became a sergeant. He was the President of the Theosophical Society America, President of the American Dialect Society
