Johannes Deegener (9 February 1905 – 31 July 1943) was a highly decorated Oberst in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Johannes Deegener was killed on 31 July 1943 near Lake Ladoga, Russia. He was posthumously promoted to Oberst and on 22 August 1943 was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
