Early and personal life
Johanna started practicing boxing at the age of 13 and turned professional at 14, always under guidance of her father and trainer Ruddy Peña.
Career
Peña-Álvarez made her pro debut at the age of seventeen, on June 29, 2000, winning a 2nd round TKO over Natali Lara. She won her second pro bout, before losing a 6-round unanimous decision to Gisselle Salandy on August 8, 2000. Peña-Álvarez would go 12-0-1 in her next 13 fights, before losing a 10-round decision to WIBF Flyweight Champion Regina Halmich on January 17, 2004 in Germany.
Johanna would return to the ring on March 19, 2004, fighting to a 6-round draw with Delia Gonzalez. In her next fight, Pena-Alvarez lost a 6-round unanimous decision to future WIBA Flyweight Champion Melinda Cooper.
Pena-Alvarez' record is 15-3-2 with 10 KOs.
